The Canadian Start-up Innovator of the Year Award celebrates an outstanding Canadian innovator who has used a Mitacs-funded project to kick-start their entrepreneurial journey.   

This self-nominated award highlights the successful commercialization of research and/or creation of a new enterprise, and the infinite potential created when research and entrepreneurial vision align.  

The Canadian Enterprise Innovator of the Year Award celebrates a Mitacs industry partner whose leadership, adoption of burgeoning technology, and support of cutting-edge research and development, demonstrate an ongoing commitment to innovation in Canada.   

The Mitacs Innovation Award for Outstanding Research Leadership is presented to an academic supervisor with an exemplary record of developing collaborations with industry partners, providing valuable research and training experiences to their interns, and utilizing Mitacs funding to initiate ground-breaking research. 

Recognizing the importance, value, and accomplishments of equity-deserving groups within Canada’s innovation ecosystem, the Mitacs Inclusive Innovator of the Year Award is granted to a Mitacs program participant who is committed to developing and/or fostering an inclusive innovation ecosystem.  

This award celebrates research achievements that promote social inclusion, incorporates diverse perspectives, and prioritizes accessibility in the design and execution of innovative projects, products, and services.
